Planning a vacation is always a treat, and one Canadian spot has just been named a top travel destination in the world for 2026.
British media company Time Out has released its ranking of the world’s 33 most underrated travel destinations for 2026, and just one Canadian spot made the list.
Time Out stated that every spot on its list was picked by one of its expert editors and globetrotting travel writers, recommended because they offer great (or quiet) alternatives to the classics – and in many cases, because they’re places that actually want tourism.
When people think of must-see travel destinations in Canada, many think of Banff National Park, Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, and Montreal, but this spot is just as deserving to be tapped as a travel destination to explore in 2026.
The destination that captured the attention and affection of the publication was Prince Edward Island, which was described as “Canada’s smallest province packs in a lot, proof that good things come in small packages.”

The island on the list is part thanks to its dunes and seemingly endless sandy shorelines, the sprawling Island Walk route, and its food scene, which includes fresh lobster, clams, mussels, and oysters.
We also can’t forget to mention a visit to the Anne of Green Gables Museum and immersing yourself in the life of Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery.
Heck, even check out the Canadian Potato Museum and Antique Farm Machinery Museum, the West Point Lighthouse Inn and Museum, and of course, Thunder Cove Beach for some incredible sights and relaxation.
Other locations to make the cut include Newcastle, Australia; Cuenca, Ecuador; Turku, Finland; Ishikawa, Japan; and Tiago Pass, California.
